Love the pics of the Amaryllis it is lovely.
Kathleen, I don't always do what I say at 68 I have to use auto focus most of the time but on macro shots of flowers and I want a blurred back ground even I'll put it on manual focus. But most of the time I need as much help to get in focus as I can. Kathleen they grow Amaryllis in NC. SC.and Ga. in the ground much as we grow Daffodils or Tulips here. Here is a picture of a Pear Blossom Bud using Manual focus.
Thank you Randy and Kathleen for your comments and encouragement. Yes, this amaryllis is in a large, glazed pot by my front door. The covered porch faces south, so it is shaded in the summer and sunny in the winter. It lives in a bed of oxalis (shamrocks) and freesia.
Thank you again for commenting.
Really? You have amaryllis growing OUTSIDE? That makes me think about moving to Arizona! Very nice picture, Deborah!
And Randy, just a comment--for my 63-yr-old eyes, sometimes autofocus is better! Ha!
Beautiful Deborah. I think the picture turned out wonderful. I don't shot in the auto format, but use some manual settings to get different effects. I assume you used the flash which usually improves the picture which I should do but don't. I'm using auto focus but manual focus is better. If you don't change anything I'd still be with capturing such a lovely bloom as you did.
I have been nurturing this amaryllis for several years, this year it is blooming. The photograph was taken at dusk for contrasting background. The photo was taken with my Canon Power Shot G11 on auto. Not the best photo, but by far the best bloom in my garden right now. Any suggestions on how to improve the image would be greatly appreciated.
