Comment by KJSacramento, Zeric Zone 9 on April 17, 2011 at 6:18pm I added a discussion on Bermuda grass in the Invasive Plants group to help another member, but I am still looking for better ways to eliminate deeply established large areas of it. All over the internet are toxic chemical suggestions, but I prefer not to use them. I dig it up since smothering will not work, but it is still endlessly invasive, and I use salt, but that is bad for the soil. Any other healthy ideas out there? Here is a link to the discussion: Invasive Plants - Bermuda Grass

Comment by Jackie Popp on March 2, 2011 at 2:50pm Amen to that Audrey-I love to see the school children picking up the refuse on the beach- A chance to learn how valuable our environment is.
Too bad some bozos do not think that it is trash when they throw their refuse away-including lots of "butts"
I am looking forward to our trip. i am getting a new SUV with a hydrolic lift on it. I can easily access my scooter. That will make it easy for me (us) to get around to all the places that we want to see. My granddaughter was born in California and has never been out of the states. We are going to visit Victoria Gardens in B.C. along with many other places on the way and back. She has mentioned that she is interested in the Orchid garden in Washington. Have to do some things that she wants to do too. One is the Monterrey Bay Aquarium. I'd like that one too.
First of all Audrey-Sounds good to me-but it'd have to be after my garden hopping trip with my granddaughter at the end of June. We are traveling from Irvine to Vancouver B.C.-stopping along the way to see both public gardens and ones that are open to the public like Schreiners iris gardens.
Second-Daddieo I know nothing about Vancouver except for the world renowned gardens. I'd love to see those falls. We are going to have to do some reading and research between now and then to make sure that we don't miss anything of importance along the way.
