Poor country boy gardening is when you want or need something for your garden and can't afford it. So you get creative on how to get it trading or bartering for it. digging it up out of an empty field or off the side of the road or a neighbors yard.

Been spying some beautiful hollyhocks on the side of the highway near my gravel road for a few days--finally just got a shovel and drove there and dug a few out! This site gave me the strength! lol

Comment by Vicky Myers 3 hours ago I still use my free wheel barrow that a fellow gave me years ago. I painted it dark blue. I got a big plastic one from my church family for my 49th bday a gal thought it was my 50th. She got everyone to fill it up with all kinds of gardening stuff & plants.
Comment by Glenda Truscott z8 5 hours ago Yes Robin, I do have hens and chicks in my littrle wagon. When we were in our house and I had a much bigger yard I had the wheel barrell filled in my front yard too. Now that I am in a trailor park I have a 12" wagon to fit the size of my yard.
Randy, what a clever idea. I'll remember that one.
Julie how nice to have a pond that you enjoy so much. It will be fun to twik it over the years.
Comment by Carol Howard/ Louisiana 20 hours ago Julie that is so cool!! Love it! I had one years ago and painted it bright yellow I had moss roses planted in it and had it in the middle of my front yard
My Love found this wheelbarrow on the side of the road with a "FREE" sign on it. Wish we would have taken a before picture of it. He brought it home, fixed it,painted it and then we planted strawberries in it. Now i have a Straw-barrow patch. I just love it. And we can wheel it anywhere in the yard if we want.
