Mary on the other hand birds don't really care if it isn't perfect so no need to worry most likely..... :-)

Mary my gourds are pretty thick which makes it easier...the thinner and dryer the gourd the easier they are to crack.  Fortunately for me my husband has round hole drills in different sizes and I let him to the honor of drilling the holes.

Beth, how did you make the entry hole in your birdhouse gourd?  Mine looks awful... and the gourd is very dry... can I still fix it?

Jan. I found a photo from last year..I took one with a cardinal sitting in the bird cage..that was neat but couldnt find it. You can see it in the corner of the arbor along with other goodies....that is one of my bird gourd houses hanging I made.

Cindy thanks for the name of the glue.  I am always looking for glue that will withstand the our of doors. I really like the bird cage picture.

Thats a great idea Beth I think I'll hang it in the Apple tree today.... and put a saucer in it.... great thinking... I have two so I can still decorate one with flowers.

I have a birdcage that my husband cut out a few of the bars and I put a terra cotta saucer at the bottom and feed the birds.  The squirrels can't get thru the bars but the birds can!! I love it.

If you put a roof on the bird cage they might move in.
