What are you trying to fence out? Or are you just trying to grow up? If you are trying to fence out deer you may have to get a bit more agressive with 2 fences or hot wire along top or or or.
Mo .. responding to your request on Veggie Gardening ... I'd plant sweet potatoes along the base and let the vines climb but it take the evangeline variety to get the beautiful purple leaves as well as great eating in my experience. Short of that, it looks like it would be a great support for a few kinds of cuke and/or beans. Mulch growing plants with hay or leaves starting 6-10 inches from plant and 4-6" deep and 3 feet out from the fence to keep the weeds down.
"grow to eat!" :)
Comment by mo puff on February 26, 2013 at 10:32am Living fence. Using garden stakes w/ flourescent light screens threaded down on them. Just installed and unplanted so far. Confederate Jasmine will be planted as an evergreen screen but i would like to interplant with a flowering vine or two as well. Full sun.. what do yall think? and how to keep weeds from growing up into it and allow weedeating? we will be removing the screen so as to change the directions so i was thinking about Cans around the Jasmine and cardboard placed under the whole lenght? So these are the 3 projects running the gammit of recycling that we are working on... please feel free to advise and comment. Recyle, Reuse, repurpose... show me yours!!
