You could always do the Sunbonnet Sue appliqués by hand while you're waiting for that sewing machine. Too bad you don't live closer to me, I have like 5 machines... My favorite is a treadle machine I got at a church yard sale for $10-. All it needed was some cleaning, oiling, and the belt tightened; and it works better than my electric machines.
I still really love doing most of the work by hand. I'm almost looking forward to being laid-up after my surgery; I'll be able to get a lot of sewing done...
I made a Sunbonnet Sue quilt once for our local Habitat for Humanity's first "Women's Build". Instead of flowers or watering cans, "Sue" is wielding a hammer & saw. LOL
Brenna z5/6 PA said:wow those quilts are amazing! I am just starting to pick up quilting (the only thing I have made is some place mats =-) But I enjoy it. I am getting a sewing machine from my in-laws and I hope to make a sun bonnet sue quilt for my best friend's baby she is having in July.
I also love animals! I wish I had time to learn how to ride horses, but right now I am in school, and work at the humane society. I currently have six sick foster kittens, plus my three cats, three chickens, and lots of fish! My husband says I need to be needed because I love taking care of plants and animals.
