These photos are wonderful! Dorothy ( my name is also Dorothy, but have always gone by the name of Dotty). I generally scatter the seeds and hope they come up again in the most logistic spot I want for the next season. Sometimes the do, and sometimes they seem to be a little rearranged by nature and the squirrels.

Comment by Janet Ruth Baron on October 17, 2011 at 11:09pm This was my first year to grow Swamp Sunflowers and wasn't sure what to expect but planted them at the back of the butterfly garden. A GA friend sent me the seeds. They grew to about 12ft and are not a single stalk but many thin dark green stalks with dark green think leaves from the base to the top and also the flowers grow from bottom to top on all the stalks and they look like black eyed susan daisies not regular sunflowers. It's quite a show with several blooming and they bloom in Sept thru Dec. The seeds can be left on them for bird food and they are also perennials! Have a new camera but am learning how to use it.
