All I can say is...Thank Whoever for tunnels!!
Comment by Christine Bedford on April 30, 2012 at 1:22pm Hello Joan, It's nice to know we aren't the only ones suffering, but I think gardeners always need something to worry about. We had no rain at all today so I rushed home from work and got a whole lot of little jobs done. Exhausted, I sat down to eat and the rain/hail started up again...*sigh*. The forecast isn't good for the next few days, so I will dash in and out if we get any gaps in the rain. I look forward to seeing your photo's.
Comment by Joan weed, Z5, VT on April 30, 2012 at 7:54am Been reading about your gales and chilly winds. I feel for you. spring is supposed to be beautiful and peaceful. My friend in the Welsh Marches says a similar thing about her weather.
Here in VT we had a very unusual dry spring with oddly warm temps and then just when we got comfortable winter returned and bit us you-know-where. All is lovely now and I hope our last hard frost is done(in my lakeside town at least). I need to upload some spring photos I think.

Wind just stopped here now too.....The calm before the storm...hope not!! Heavy rain due tomorrow now. Cool and more unsettled for the week ahead :(
Comment by Christine Bedford on April 29, 2012 at 10:39am Yes, us too last night and most of today. It has just stopped and gone very quiet here...I wonder what is next...LOL

I have heard that May is suppose to be the worst for the last 100 years too :(
We are having fierce gales today, the leaves and branches are blowing off the trees!!!
Comment by Christine Bedford on April 29, 2012 at 8:18am Catherine, I've just heard a report/guess that this wet weather is to last until June..I might as well just throw all the seedlings in the compost. Have to say too, that this is the wettest drought I've ever heard of, but is the wrong sort of rain???!!

Christine....It is awful here too. Real winter again. Gales, hailstone and cold nights. I have even covered seedlings and plants in the tunnel by night again! and heating is on more now than in the winter also :(
Comment by Christine Bedford on April 28, 2012 at 9:46am I'm really pissed off with this 'return to winter' weather! All my seedlings have stalled or are showing signs of distress. I don't have enough room to bring them all indoors, so I'm sheltering them as well as I can. I've even had to turn on my heating, and I must find my hot water bottle too. How are all of you coping?

Hello from Ireland!
We too have been having the "heatwave" here. I think today was the hottest, I actually had to come indoors to cool down! All my seedlings are now bursting out of their modules, I hope I have enough pots!!
