Comment by Glenda Truscott z8 13 hours ago Congratulations, Catherine. I loved it when my grandkids were babies and toddlers, now they are teenagers and more stressful. I took pics of my small potato patch in the ground and then two pots of purple potatoes. You can see in one pic that my celery has gone to seed. I pulled up most of the plants and I am leaving a couple to see what the flowers look like.
Comment by Maryann Jordan 16 hours ago Congratulations Catherine that is great, babies are so wonderful, they change the whole shape of the world, I am so happy for you!
Comment by Keryn ,Zone 10, Australia yesterday Wow Catherine, 10 grand children, they are breading well in Ireland, I don,t have any yet, they all want the new this and the new that, no time for kids. My children at 33 and 30 years old, they had better make a move soon. Funny thing is, they wern,t raised that way, I was 19 when I had my first child and we had all that we needed in life.
Oh I got some Baby Sweet watermellon starts yesterday.
It rained buckets here earlier too and more predicted for tonight and tomorrow. I need to go out to see what I have out there. Not so much so far, I'm jelious Catherine. I got some rebar to hook the feet of the greenhouse to and some huge nail spikes when I get the plastic or cover for it. Right now I'm going to zip tie bird netting over it and let the purple pole beans grow over it. I need to weed out back really bad, lots of clover and that low growing junk with lots of seeds.
Comment by Catherine Cronin (Ireland) yesterday Vicky....your hoop house is wonderful and you are going to have many happy hours planting and pottering in there :) I couldn't live without mine.
We have had good weather lately except for 2 days of constant rain which really was needed to wet the soil as it had got very arid. I dug my tunnel spuds today and was well-pleased with a good bucket of decent sized spuds. We had some for dinner this evening and ....OMG...such a mouth watering experience, never fails each year :)
I have been picking peas and bush beans for a while now,and have some already frozen and stored in the freezer.....not going to waste any this year. The brassicas are coming along nicely and are in a netted cage, not a caterpiller on them, touch wood :)
The toms are doing good with loads of flowers and a good few small green toms also.
All outside spuds are looking good and even though we got a warning of blight a few weeks ago, they are still a lovely shade of green...lol.
All in all I am well pleased with all my veggies this year so far.
Above is the outside spuds and the Comfrey patch in front!
I seem to busier than ever inside and out,as I have become a Nanna twice again in the last week, 2 more girls ,so now I have 8 granddaughters and 2 grandsons.....HELP....lol
Yes I was going to add that to my post. Neighbor just called and told me a sprinkler was shooting in the air. Dang cheap plastic director tops disintegrate in the sun. Need to find out where I got the other ones without the different colored tops that are just hard plastic formed ones. Rained and some lightning last night, so everything got really wet.
... about time to cover them up again, Vicky?
