Im new to gardening in Virginia and would love to hear some tips for flower gardens and more deer resistant plants.

I bought several varieties of established lavender in pots this year and only got one to root in a large pot with great soil.  It's in the rose garden and other plants are doing really well but growing lavender seems more difficult.  Does anyone have tips about winter pruning lavender?  I'm in Richmond and our winter here has been humid but relatively mild.  Before it gets too cold, I'd like to make sure it's well prepared for the cold that is soon to come.  Thanks!

Hello Everyone! I just moved to Virginia. I come from a very arid climate zone, almost desert dry!! Being an avid gardener, I'm excited to learn about gardening here in such a humid environment. And so far, it seems keeping things from NOT taking over is an issue! :)

Has anyone grown cabbage collards in our zone?

I can give you the brumangia. I also have lots of cleome seeds. They did great this year. You can plant the brumangia in pots or in the ground. Let me know when you will be back in Great Falls. For some reason, I am unable to send you a message directly. The page keeps freezing up.

I've never had anise hyssop or northern sea oats. I would love to add them to my garden. Can we make arrangements for the golden rain tree? I have tried to "friend" you but now sure if I did it correctly as it's the first time I've tried it. I am trying to add some photos of the Brumangia I have to share but having trouble with the photos loading.

I have to develop my shad garden in the back yard but do not have the soil ready for planting for things to survive at this time. I do have Brumangia to share if you are in the area. I have pink and yellow flowers. They are a tropical plant and I take cutting in the fall and then replant in the spring. I am interested in your gold en rain trees. How big are they right now? Thanks!

Hi. I'm new to Garden_Share. Does any one live near Springfield/Burke and want to trade some plants/seeds?

Pam, are you from Virginia? I see that you are in the Virginia group. If you are a Virginian, where abouts? I'm in the Shenandoah Valley near Winchester. Welcome to the group!

Any bloggers or garden writers in the Old Dominion? I have set up a discussion group. Curious how you get ideas for blogs, articles, even books.
