Hi Wisconsin Gardeners,

Wondering if anyone has had success growing lotus in containers or their ponds and can share what you do? I have tried about 5 times from tubers and 2 times from plants and unfortunately none have survived by gardening skills with them. I want to give it one more try this year.

Newly completed Heritage Rose Garden by Wolf River Master Gardeners of Shawano-Menominee County, Wisconsin, utilizing 2011 UW Extension Grant and donations - 16 yards of soil, 6 yards of mulch, 292 bricks, and 6 rolls of landscape barrier = Home of 24 Heritage Roses.

i was reviewing previous comments and realized i never answered Karen from Door County's ? about my plant cages.  i got them at my local "Ace Hardware".  i was just up in your neck of the woods yesterday, stayed at "White Lace Inn" and had dinner at Donny's Glidden Lodge (both places were phenom).  sorry about being so late in answering!

Rain just struck again today but at least it held out til 4:00 today, got a ton done, but now back to regular work until the end of the week. Thur & Fri putting in a Heritage Rose Garden at Shawano County's Heritage Park! 24 Roses ship tomorrow, 8 yards of topsoil and 4 yards of mulch arrive first thing Thur morning - I hear my aching back already, but how fun and educational the garden will be for everyone. Thanks UW Extension for the $400 Grant!!

Brenda, it's a "catch up on housework" day.  It's gonna be an all dayer rain.  And does anyone have any solutions, beside constant spraying, to reduce the number of flea beetles?  It may only be a problem up north with our gravel but I don't want to loose my cruciferous family again.  I've been spraying but the things are all over.  Anyone with suggestions?

An then, does anyone have a better way to eliminate sheep sorrel?  I have some wild areas but if it isn't pulled right away, it leaves such a network of root that it just keeps coming.

Tried to weed today, started sprinkling, only a 30% chance of rain, but its 100% over my yard. I can handle sprinkles, damp, wet, but now it's running off my nose and I need to be wrung out - must be my sign to give it up!!

Hello. I am from Wausau, WI. We have perennials, annuals, a vegetable garden and I am into bird-watching. I have to comment about Bonnie's peony bush. I have peonies with lots of blooms, but your blooms are huge! It is beautiful. This is an exciting time in Wisconsin. We are gearing up for the warmer weather. My crocus have just started blooming!

well i will have a raised veggie bed again, but we will put in less tomato plants (as they were sooo prolific) and more bush beans.  probably no kohlrabit or kale.  but lettuce, and i will figure out how to have it back when it cools off.  i want to do brussel sprouts and cabbage, but have to find something to keep the cabbage butterflies at bay!  the flowerbeds, well i broadcast some seeds for things, and i planted some iris and lilly bulbs, so we'll see how those things do.  i may plant some perennials (veronica fascination) and perhaps transplant some things.  i also have a berm where i took out the circular driveway that i have to plant...right now it has various types of decorative grasses, but i need some other things too.

My old flower garden has been dug up and preped for a new veggie garden. I'm very excited. I will also add more herbs in my pots this year.
