I am so upset. I just moved here in the winter excited about developing a wild life nature reserve in my back yard. I have six acres, just enough woods and woodland and started in late February. (still in progress) With some open fields to safely play.
anyway, my distress code is "hunters". I am so upset. My squirrel that comes to my porch and in his "nut house" was shot yesterday from my neighbor. Although I have no hunting posted and my yard is fairly large, he has access to wide open land right beside me. He also shoots rabbits. Now, I am afraid for my dogs to be outside since he is shooting as I type........but I am also wondering how I am going to do this!!!
I have deer that come under my apple trees and eat straw and drink out of the new water spot I put there for them, (they were bedding in my open field throughout winter), I have rabbits that are just starting to come in the raised bed plants I put just for them (to avoid my landscape they are not allowed to eat) and a few squirrels just now starting to come into my yard. (and of course, other birds and such...) I have high hopes for this and not sure what i can do....
Any ideas? I feel like I am drawing them into my yard for the beauty of them and my neighbor is just gonna make them targets when they step out of my "safe area".
Help!!!
thanks so much

First, the ethical and law abiding hunter gets permission to hunt on property that is not their own. Second, and I'm recalling Ohio hunting laws; squirrel season lasted from September until January. May hunting was not legal.
I would check to see if your state has a TIP line = Turn in a Poacher. Hunting out of season without property owner permission certainly falls into that category.
