Hellebores? Can they grow in Zone 3-4?

I am on the fringe of Zone 3 and 4.  I love the look of Hellebores, but I am SO afraid of planting them, as I have never viewed a garden in this area that contain these!  Does anyone have any tips or suggestions or proof that they can survive here?
