That's all right Cathy just thought I might be able to hook up with him again he was a military buddy. I believe there are some flower groups on the list some where unless you are interested in veggie gardening. This is a good place to learn from other people and there ideas. some times they don't apply to where you live but for the most part they will depends on the subject. Have a good week end.

William, I am not familiar with a funeral home in Florence with the name Parrish.  Florence has changed so much in the past few years.  Seems like they are building a bank or a drug store on every corner.

Cathy Anderson Hi welcome to garden share. You know I have a friend that lived in Florence don't know if he is still there or not. His dad owned a Funeral Home last name was Parrish just wondering if it is still there? I don't know much about flowers except that I like them and don't have the time to work with them.

I was so happy to find this group.  I live in northwest Alabama and am very new to gardening.  My sister and I are in the process of putting in new flower beds in my Dad's yard in Florence.  We've just finished a bed for iris so now I just have to wait for the iris that I ordered to arrive.  We also did a bed for day lilies that we bought from Willie's Lily Farm in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee last month.  His farm was so beautiful with all the blooming lilies!  Anyway, I have enjoyed working in Dad's yard and he is enjoying watching all of the hummers that came to the zinnias that we planted.

I wonder if the cucumbers work on voles?

Just catching up on posts. William, I'm going to try the cucumber and pie tin in my garden. We also seem to have an abundance of ants this year? Any suggestions?

Karen This was sent to me via junk mail 4. Are grubs and Slugs  ruining your planting beds? Place a few slices in a small

pie tin and your garden will be free of pests all season long. The chemicals
In the cucumber react with the aluminum to give off a scent undetectable to

humans but drive garden pests crazy and make them flee the area. I don't know if it works or not but worth the try.

I have two favorite ground covers.  The first is Kinnickinick.  It stays green all year and has small pinkish white flowers in the spring.  The other one is Baccharis Magellanica.  Both are low-growing and cover the bank well.  They look good all year.  Another one I like is cotonester, especially in the fall when it has red berries.

I have seen the dwarf mondo grass and think it must be great.  My area was large and I had free mondo grass growing in the yard in various places.  Therefore, I used the larger variety.  I like the idea of putting it in between pavers.  I think I will do that.  I have some more iffy areas that need something.
