Joyce – no, it's not too late to start a veggie garden in zone 9b.

Sow cool-season crops indoors in flats or outdoors by mid-month: beets, carrots, cabbage family members, lettuce, peas, and spinach. These will be slow growing while the days are still short.

Sow indoors tomatoes, pepper, and eggplants by mid-month.

Start warm-season vegetables in flats indoors.

I will let someone else answer about the composter.  Good luck!

is it too late to start a vegetable garden in zone 9b?

also, can you recommend a good enclosed composter?

This is another one of the salvia I picked up at the big salvia sale.  I needed more of this beauty and don't want to take chances on just seeds.  You can see, it is a spectacular addition to the garden!

Just bought this at a big salvia sale last week.  I've never grown this one before so it should be an adventure.
