Yes, that does enhance my enjoyment of the vine.

I love the Spanish missionaries representation of the physical structures of the passion flower (Passiflora)
A symbols of the last days of Christ especially The Crucifixion.
*The pointed tips of the leaves represent the Holy Lance.
*The tendrils represent the whips used in the flagellation of Christ.
*The ten petals and sepals represent the ten faithful apostles
(less St. Peter the denier and Judas the betrayer)
*The flower radial filament, which can be over 100 represent the Crown of Thorns.
*The chalice-shaped ovary with it's receptacle represents a hammer of the Holy Grail.
*The 3 stigmata represent the 3 nails and the 5 anthers below them (4 by the nails and 1 by the lance)
*The blue and white colors of many of the species flowers represents Heaven and Putity.
I LOVE IT

I don't know. some years are better than others and more established plants usually bloom more. I would give it time.

Orchids are beautiful. I've considered growing them now that I have a greenhouse, but I'll probably need all the room I can get planting seeds and taking cuttings of things in my garden that I know won't make it through the winter here......like Persian Shield (actually I have had them return in the last few years), Alternanthera 'Purple Knight' and coleus. Last year, I bought a red passion vine and it was beautiful. I'll post the photo. When it didn't come up this year, I planted a black eyed susan vine on that trellis. Now I see that the red passion vine has made an appearance (no blooms so far). So you just never know.

What a gorgeous plant and photo! Living in Massachusetts, I know I can't grow this. However i do know if you have the patience you can grow it inside,I'll stick to my orchids.

I don't know if you can grow it there. It has been great for me and I get so many babies that I keep trying to give them to my gardening friends. It's a great passalong plant. It is a food source for the Gulf Frittilary which occasionally comes and decimates it, but it always recovers.

Gorgeous! I'm from MI, so I assume I can't grow this. I saw a similar one at the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh, but I don't remember the exotic looking center!
