I bought these from a nursery so they are not wild.  they introduced this hybrid many years ago.  I have tried to transplant wild sage and it has not yet worked.  Hope this helps.

John,what exactly is Desperado sage? Just wild sage? I have been tring for years to propigate wild sage with no luck

"I grow them in two spots under my eaves here in the Pacific NW. They moved themselves by reseeding out from under the roof! The happier of the two likes dry, hot but afternoon shade. I cut them back after flowering & they grew new leaves again…"
