It is a cicada I caught the photo in Wilmette IL and it wasn't too hard to photograph as they were every where. These guys come out every seventeen years and the noise is very loud. I used to live there and had to drive there and see them. It is amazing. The fact that they stay buried that long and then all come out at once is fascinating. Thankes for the nice comments.

Hi Bev... Thank you for you kind thoughts... You sure have a colorful gardens they sure do pop out... Love the purple and pink together... I just love the coming out of the shell picture. That is hard to capture the moment on somtehing like that.. Is it a locust or moth??
