woops, didn't finish - I use evening primrose; golden loosestrife and red bee balm along the bottom of my Clematis. The Clematis will grow right up through to seek the sunshine.

That is Clematis Jackmanii group. Mine takes over the deck too-the chairs, the table. I have to grab it and work it through the railing to avoid the sitting area.

For those who asked: Clematis loves the sun - but wants it's roots to be cool - lots of mulch, with another flower at it's roots make for a happy Clematis. I use

Oh John these are gorgeous, mine bloomed a couple months ago, they are the white variety,name i cannot remember right now. so pretty!

just beautiful. Mine bloomed like that at the begining of spring and hasnt bloomed since. can you tell me what to do and when do you prune the vine and how. thanks in advance. deb
