A nice red-flowered nasturtium blooming in the garden. They are so easy here winter, spring, and early summer so I let them pop up anywhere they want in the garden (almost!).

Comment by Grant Meyer USDA zone 9 on February 23, 2012 at 1:01pm Thanks for looking/commenting, Leah! I DO toss some of the blooms into the occasional salad, they're a very nice addition, aren't they? I bet the loved the CT weather for sure. They're really good performers here winter, spring, and early summer, and then they perish in the heat, but they always drop plenty of seeds that wait out our long hot summer to re-sprout in autumn. What's not to love about such a giving, durable plant, right?? Are you growing any these days??? Thanks again, happy gardening! :)
Comment by leah martin on February 23, 2012 at 12:02pm Do you fry the flowers in batter or eat them raw in salads, Grant? They are such a lovely kkuce trellace vine, too. I grew lots of them in CT, they loved the weather up there!
