Martha, I brought some in this year and they were beautiful. It was still cold outside, but nice to see the bright yellow blooms on my kitchen table, letting me know Spring was on its way. Forsythia does root easily too.

Before these are in bloom you can force them to bloom inside. I take some 2-3' cuttings inside and stick into water and in a few days they are blooming. My grandma said they will root in that same water if you leave them a while. Then just plant them outside after that!
