Spectacular!  What a joy to work in a garden such as this!

I've seen one other garden that used them artistically, or as a nice canopy. You're "topiary" touch is wonderful. I think I had a female sumac in my previous yard, so it wasn't quite as stunning, and it never turned the beautiful red in the fall either...(?)

I planted some of the SS earlier this year. It is fabulous in the fall and I like it's form all year. I am anxious for it to colonize.

Nancy, I do not know why people hate the Staghorn Sumac's either. They are so fun to work with. Soft wood that's easy to prune. Wonderful fall color. They give year round interest. I will say that they are not for the gardener who wants to plant it and forget it, but the seedlings they produce are nothing to pull out and truly not that offensive looking if you don't!
