I feed them just good ol' plain ' "Miracle Grow" about every 2 - 3 weeks.  The main yard is watered with a sprinkling system, but my 100+ container plants I water just about every other day.  They are filled every year with fresh Miracle Grow Potting Soil.  Price of water has gone up so high, not sure how much longer I can keep this up.  May have to cut down on those container plantings :-(   If your soil is so dry, you might try some large container plantings where the moisture won't evaporate so quickly...  I'm talking LARGE pots now...

Thank you Irma... What do you feed your plants ? Just curious.  Your garden is so BEAUTIFUL. My property is so dry, I love planting drought tolerate plants. Even after a rain storm I would dig into the soil and its dry. So to save money I try to buy drought tolerate plants... Happy Gardening !

Yes, Joan, it is drought tolerant!  Unfortunately, an annual for me here in Michigan.  Gets too cold in the winter for it.  I love tropical plants, I really need to move to California where my kids are - HA!   http://www.buzzle.com/articles/mandevilla-plant.html

FG ~ Need to cut mine down even though we haven't had frost yet. I've stopped watering so it's looking rather sad...

Gylma ~ My daughter-in-law in Pasadena grows Mandevilla in containers and they do GREAT! Hmmmmmmmmm... Sometimes certain plants just don't like the soil makeup in an area. For instance, I have no luck with growing Salvia or Celosia in the ground...
