There are two theories, one, that it's petrified dinsaur dung, the other, that it's sandstone cretateans(SP?) crystallized minerals formed under ancient ocean beds, which then eroded away from the formations. Supposedly the only site if it's kind in the world, it is a band of mounds in the middle of flat Kansas. Wife's family lived nearby for generations, keep saying, oh, yea, its this or that, having never seed it, they couldn't believe the pictures we finally showed them.
