How unique and beautiful.  I don't have a place I could do this at my place - but I love this creative thinking for those succulents - realy neat way to show them off.

The first time I saw this "vertical garden" was in Dallas summer 2010. Amazingly cool concept! The frame was cedar but the slats were some type of metal sheeting with an open seem at the bottom of each level for drainage. There was also drip irrigation placed on top of each level....with only one main nozzle to water the whole thing making it efficient and easy. Super cool visual...especially on a patio or deck.

Lovely, may I ask what the base is?

It is the challenge Julie, just the challenge!  To get something to look nice when this is done is a challenge.  Mant gardeners enjoy this kind of challenge.  The challenges you or perhaps I enjoy are just different...

Thanks everyone...I love finding space-saving ideas and new creative ways to add both art and plants to the home.  I wonder which one of us will be the first to try something like this?? :)

I still have two big wooden flats I need to fix up and plant this spring...waiting for the energy to do it....I'm hoping I'll have my own sets of six-packs to fill them up.  I like the lighter, smaller versions of the flats in this photo...the others are very, very heavy.
