yard from hell

We don't garden with shovels here. When I planted my first flowers (we moved here in 2005), I used a chisel and a hammer. My daughter was so upset. I had been hitting the chisel so much that in my fatigue I began to hit my hand too. The sun was going down and I had several plants to get in the ground, and my daughter was crying "momma please stop" but I was determined! I kept hitting chisel and hand but I got those darned plants in the ground!! They were annuals, and died after the first summer was over. I have since changed my plant preferences and my tactics!

I can relate to the garden from hell. Although I live mostly on sand I still can't get the nutrients I need unless I haul in tons of soil and compost on a yearly basis. I think now that yu have change your plans maybe the succulents and Tx natives will give this area a whole new look. I would love to see what you do. Keep meposted. :)
