Research the best time to grow because although things can grow mostly all year round, for me in zone 9 collards are sweeter if they get a frost, so I only grow them in the winter.
You will certanly save money when growing even a small amount of your vegies. When I go to the store, I always look in my cart and say "hmm wonder what is in here that I can grow myself" Then I take inventory! Saving money is one advantgage, but also I am so tired of all the ecoli outbreaks! Nestle Tall House Cookies ecoli outbreak sent me over the edge! It is getting to where you grow your own food or buy local because you just want to make sure it is safe!

Aren't Beagles a riot? We live next to state hunting land and someone left George by the side of the road when he was only about a year old - so of course I took him in - he's SO much fun - but keep stealing my socks.
