Thank you all for the very kind, generous, and most encouraging comments. It should be a lot easier next season. I don't have to cut the beds and lay the pavers! I wish all of you could share the bounty. Happy Thanksgiving to All.
Hello Sheila,
It's November and I finally have time to take a break. What a summer we had. Most of it was good for my garden but at times the dry spell had me watering. I attached some pics of the veggie garden. I hope you get some rest now…
that's a great idea...rabbits are a problem in my neighborhood--we even have to avoid flowers that they feed on! One year, they EVEN ate a flower bed of marigolds (but just once)! and, the marigolds came back! I have some seeds that have leaves…
Let's share our wonders and woes. I hope this site brings together those with expertise with those who have questions. I'd like to begin by inviting anyone that has an indoor herb garden to share their pictures, successes and challenges for us just starting to learn how to do our own :-)
that's a great idea...rabbits are a problem in my neighborhood--we even have to avoid flowers that they feed on! One year, they EVEN ate a flower bed of marigolds (but just once)! and, the marigolds came back! I have some seeds that have leaves peeking out--already! What are you planting this year?
Thank you Eloise. We built the outbuilding in 2005. I try to get pictures of the rest of the grounds so you have an idea of how things are laid out. We went about it quite organically without too much planning. We primarily
Alex: I, too, am in Charlotte--would love to be friends with you. I love your spirit! I am collecting seed pkts. for poppies--MUST have them this year...have a seed starter for the first time. I'm a beginner gardener, (just retired) all flowers so far.
Wow! I'm just stepping into the 21st century with all this technology! How cool is YouTube. there was a lot of videos and a wide range of ideas. Again, thank you for the suggestion. I'll make sure Meredith sees these.

That is a wonderful idea Alax, I hope you share some of your ideas and progress as you go. I saw a youtube video where they have a type of tomatoe for boxes because instead of growing up, they drape down the side, and look pretty as well as being good to eat!
Hello Jennifer, Thank you for creating such a fun blog. I wish I could sit at the computer all day (not really, I'd rather be gardening :) and carry on a conversation with those who drop in. I and my friend Meredith Logan will be sharing ideas on how best to start an indoor herb garden in the winter. Meredith is a well-intended gardener but a little bit of a brown thumb (haha.) We hope you can join us and shed some insights. We'll start around 1 PM Thursday, February 11th.
Thanks for the reply on what's your favorite thing in the garden. Love your Pictures. I love Vegitables and herbs too. My favorite herb is Lemon Basil. It smells so good and it's great in many dishes with tomatos. Have a great day! Jennifer
