Hi Barbara, I received a comment from you, but I don't think that it was meant for me. However, it is good to hear from you anyway. I'm enjoying Spring in Virginia, just as you are, I'm sure! I don't think that there is any prettier place to be than Virginia in the Spring! Have a good day! Carolyn
I planted a new flower bed last April that was suppose to be deer proof. Guess they didn't read the same magazine I did! I only have a fence around the pool ~ so the rest of the yard is like a buffet for them. I'm hoping that one day I'll have enough plants that it won't hurt for them to nibble a little but right now their visits are detrimental.
I just have a fence around the pool and the only thing I can plant inside the fence is a few herbs, one squash plant and one tomato plant. The deer have been rough on my other tomato plants this year. They eat the tops out along with the blooms so I'm counting my days of fresh tomatoes.
Barbara - the Ginger arrived today! Thank you so much! I couldn't resist opening it here at the office - and am pleased to say that it is in great shape. I was a little concerned since it stayed with UPS over the weekend, but it look wonderful. Can't wait to get it in the ground tonight! :-)
Barbara - I can't thank you enough! Hopefully it will get here today so I can get it in the ground this weekend! What are the temperatures like where you are right now? If it is a bit cooler there than it is here, I might put it in a pot for a couple of weeks, moving it in during the heat of the day and putting it out in the mornings/afternoons, then put it in the ground in a couple of weeks after it has gotten acclimated. Don't want to shock it... What do you think?
Hi Barbara, I've been working in the yard today in this dreadful heat. But I had to let you know I have an eggplant in my driveway garden! It's only about 5 inches but I feel like a proud parent! The tomatoes look like they will eventually do something but the eggplant got right to work!
Thanks Barbara! :-) I am going to pick some up at the grocery store just to give it a try that way - although I read that most grocery store ginger has been killed by bleaching/boiling following harvest. Never hurts to try, though, right?
