Maybe we should start up a discussion on reciepes for home grown vegetables???
Love ur lamas???
Another tip " Do not eat Rhubarb if the plant is grown and is affected by frost!!!
I live on a farm just outside Castleford. We only have 1 acre but lease an acre from the farmer. 4 years ago we got our first llamas and now have 7. They were sheared last week. I've saved the fiber which I'm learning to felt with the goal…
Hi! No problem. I just started my first vegetable garden this year (I did one once before without too much success); but I've had Rhubarb in my flower beds for years. I LOVE RHUBARB! There's a great recipe for Rhubarb Upside-Down…
I was born and raised in Twin Falls. I still miss the the Idaho country, but it really makes gardening in a state like PA seem easier. Everything is so green, and gets watered by the rain! Are those your llamas on your picture?
Adele-- I'm sorry to be so slow to respond. Somehow I missed your miessage. Thank you so much for the tips on rhubarb. I've yet to pick any of this year's crop but will get myself out there tomorrow, take some stems, and follow your…
Brenna - I'm sorry for not responding sooner. Somehow I missed your message. Where did you grow up in Idaho? Sometimes I love it here (like today, after going for a scooter ride past wheat fields), other times I hate it (such as getting a hard…
Hi Becky!
I just wanted to leave you a little note. Rhubarb is extremely tart, and needs to be cooked with lots of sugar.

When should one harvest rhubarb? The leaves are huge and I usually haven't harvested until mid-June because I was teaching and always waited for summer vacation.
My broccoli is sprouting. A very few cabbage and lettuce sprouts. Most the marigolds froze dead away, planted them way too early. Planted peas today. Will plant mesclun, kale, spinach tomorrow. Doing them all from seed this year. It will be…
I've come to believe in raised beds - in wood boxes if possible to provide a barrier to creeping lawn. Otherwise, down the line you'll have lawn overtaking your veggies which every year will be a bear to eradicate.
Question: Does anyone else life off a well pump? We have to run 2 taps minimum to keep proper pressure in the water tank. So soaker hoses, drip irrigation, & anything else that requires running the pump for hours don't work. Any suggestions?
We are surrounded by farmland, so no one cares if we reuse grey water. It's not very "grey" - my husband has to soak his arthritis in a very hot tub 2x daily. We bought a submersible pump, ran a hose out the window, and drain the tub…
We have 3 rain barrels 2 of them under downspouts on the patios. Used to use old 55-gallon metal drums, but they rusted. Couple years ago an agricutlet sold 50-gal red plastic barrels with spouts at the bottom. When a barrel is full, I hook up a…
