"I too love the quail! They are so cute. My humingbird feeder broke when I was cleaning it. Got to get a new one. We don't have a lot of Hummers here. They stop by when they are migrating. But maybe I can coax some to stay."

"Bananas do well if you keep them watered. I have grown banana trees but only once did they produce any bananas. I think they need lots of water. The plants hold LOTs of water in their trunks. Mine froze this Winter."

Well hello neighbor! Yes, the recent storms we've been getting can be hard on the garden, especially if you have new plantings. After hurricane Ike wiped out my entire garden I decided to start over with nothing but containers for the first year until the plants are more hardy and have well established root systems. This also comes in handy for days like today when we're supposed to get more damaging storms. I can put all of them into my garage to protect them.I won't lose hiundreds of $ worth of flowers this year! Well, unless a hurricane takes down my garage hehe. Nice to "meet" you!

Hi, Bobbie. I live north of Baton Rouge, and am trying to find people who garden in the south to share ideas with. This is my first time on this site, and it looks interesting. Have you run across anyone who is in Louisiana?
