Love the Owl...what type of owl is it (Burrowing?) He/she is beautiful! My neice had a pair of Great Horned Owls nesting in her yard (Ft Myers, FL) & we had Burrowing Owls nesting in town near a baseball field (Ft Myers) Does this owl live near you? Beautiful picture indeed! My pix were never that close!

Check and make sure that the root ball is geting wet. I am assuming that you built a berm around the ball and you are filling that berm every other day. If not the ball may drying out and causing the wilt. Or it may be staying to wet depending on how much rain that you have been getting. If you can push you index finger into the rootball and it is either wet or dry you will have a better idea if the plant needs more water or not. Also it is normal for plants to wilt in the heat of the day and if the leaves look fine in the morning this may be the case also.

A couple of questions on the magnolia. How long has it been replanted? Is it in direct sun? How often are you watering and are you checking the soil first to see if it is still wet? The zone you live in maybe to hot for the pink magnolia. Is it the decidious variety sometimes called a japenese magnolia. The is a book called "Heat Zone Gardening" that might answer rather it is to hot for your magnolis. Don't know if any of this helps. Like your orchids.

I used to live in Pompano Beach about a block from Deerfield Beach next to the grade school where my kids went to school. LOVE the owl! I'm an owl person...have collected about 50-60 of them over the years.

I, especially, remember the soap bubbles the kids would make appear in the fountain in Deerfield!

Hi Brent,
How close were you to the owl...what kind of camera and lens. It's beautiful. I grew up in Clearwater, FL...also lived in Miami for 15 years. Now in Massachusetts...gardening is very different. I joined gardnersindex yesterday and am really enjoying it.

What kind of owl is it. We have owls that I hear in the woods behind our hours. The only ones we've seen were a Mama and baby Great Horned. That was fun and we got some good photos. The baby actually got lost down the street and our daughter rescued it, she called the nature center. They reoriented it to its Mama.

Brent,

Thanks for the rose info. I will pick up some Orthene for roses in the next few days and try what you said. I do have a watering system so no water touches the roses.

We had a week of rain and my roses went form gorgeous to ulk in a week.

Thanks for adding me.
