Hello! My name is Brigtte, I live in Ashland, Ohio with my husband, my 3 year old daughter and have a new one on the way in April. I started square foot gardening with 7 beds of different types of fruits and veggies. I am having so much fun with this it's ridiculous! I am also the owner of The Posh Event and Everyday Posh. No grass growing under my feet! I am looking forward to meeting new people on here, exchanging notes, and learning everything I can about gardening!!

Please also visit my blog: www.EverydayPosh.com where I will be adding posts about gardening. I would love your input!!

It's Spring time and I can't wait to get back to gardening!

Posted on March 21, 2011 at 12:55pm 0 Comments

This weekend my inlaws came over and helped us get the raised beds ready for planting as well as the rest of the garden! This is a huge help since I am 8 month pregnant!!

2010 was an amazing year! My business really took off and I am having a great time! My daughter is growing like a weed! Absolutely beautiful and completely into gardening and designing like me. Although she says that she wants to become a princess doctor or an astronaut!

I am really looking to get into my…

New Year New Garden

Posted on May 4, 2010 at 12:11pm 0 Comments

For the past month of record high temperatures for the area which would then fall to freezing the next week, I have almost been thrown for when I should start planing my garden. This weekend I gave in and started planting. For a gardener, I do not have patients! I have some idea of what to expect this year with the garden after last year so I think that I may be even more excited than I was last year! Plus this year my daughter is more interested in planting with me (and digging plants up) so… Continue

The Battle is ON!

I guess that I don't need to say that this is my first year having my own garden. But, it is, and I am new to all that it has to offer. For the past two weeks or so I have started seeing these iridescent black green beetles on my Soy Beans. I noticed about 3 weeks ago these little yellow and black striped beetles, and about a month ago when my "zukes" were starting to get ready and I found these brown triangular beetles. Beetles, Beetles, and more Beetles. I wasn't noticing any damage at the… Continue

I am like a kid in the garden

Posted on July 2, 2009 at 9:30am 2 Comments

I do remember when I was a kid that my mother had a beautiful flower garden. There were bursts of color all over and she had to have had one of the most beautiful gardens in the neighborhood. When I became old enough to also dig in her pots and pick flowers thinking they were weeds, my mother would buy me a flat of marigolds to plant wherever I wanted. I remember getting goosebumps I would be so excited! It would be such a big day in the spring each year to go to the nursery together to get my… Continue

Brigette, your little girl is absolutely adorable. I have two girls now in their 20's and yours reminds me so much of my oldest. I have great pics of her out in my garden when she was that age. When we first moved to this town about 24 yrs ago, I started with the square foot gardening and loved it....then it got too confined for me. My desires were to create and design. So after a couple years out went those beds and I started getting into landscaping. You will have so much fun and to incorporate your love and talent of photographing goes hand in hand with flowers and plants and nature. Good luck and keep taking those pictures to share.

Brigitte, your contributions to this site are awesome, your photos are stunning and your daughter is divine. I too grew up in Ohio - rural Holmes & Tuscarawas Counties, among the Amish. It is lovely to share gardening passion with you and the others on this site.

Hey, Brigitte :D What suburb of D-Town did you grow up in? I grew up off of Hall Rd. across from the Partridge Creek golf course (by Macomb Community College) in a small neighborhood that doesn't, to this day, even have a sign outside of it to tell people it's there, LOL. I was just curious.

You take amazing pictures!!! I love how you isolate your subject and blur the background. Very impressive. I can't do that with my digital cameras... or at least I haven't taken the time out to find out how. Your photos look like they're taken out of a magazine, or... even better... a published book about flowers (not very eloquent, I know. Hey, it's 3:35am!!! LOL). Glad to see you on this site!

I hope you love gardening as much as I do. I also bike a lot and a friend told me she solved everything that she maybe struggling with on her bike. I feel like I do that in my garden. I do a lot of talking to God in mine when I am weeding. I think He heard me. I have a fantastic garden this year. I brought home my first round of lettuce, spinach, eggplant, cucumbers and chard. There is so much to do and make from a Garden. I am currently looking for bottles to make spicey hot pepper oil. I love hot pepper oil and so does my mother and sister. Enjoy your daughter. How wonderful for you. I did not have any when I was married. The little one next to me in my picture is my second cousin. Her father is from Elsalvador and she is a beauty. Very talented. She has played the violin since she was four. Have a great summer

Hi Brigitte, I'm new here but not to gardening. I veggie gardened with my father as a wee tyke and now that I'm retired I've started veggie gardening more myself. I grow much to much stuff and give much away but it's fun. We also can tomatoes for our own use. I've never tried 1 foot gardening but, although I've got all the space I need to garden I may try it just for fun. I like trying new things. Good luck. Sounds like you have a green thumb. BTW, is that your little girl. She is beautiful
