My advise is to spend alot of time with them and talk alot. My children were great kids . They tried us but I think when we had that bad feeling we intervened and talked. They are great parents now and are close with hteir kids.

K, I will get pics on here soon. I was too sick to get out and take a few pics when some of the things were really in bloom, like my jacob's ladder, and fox glove, and dianthus, all at the same time in one area. :( I will do better next year.

Hello! I am so excited to talk gardening with other people who are a passionate about it as I am. I am a stay-at-home mom of four great kids. I am luck enough to not only raise flowers and veggies, but I get to raise my kids too. My husband is a High School teacher and is also the head football coach.(Back- to -Back State 5A Champions) Yes, I am very proud of him! We have a great life.Gardening soothes my soul and brings joy to my heart. My garden is always changing and evolving. I am in my third season here at our home. When we bought our house the only thing in the yard was weeds and dog poop. I am very happy how things are coming together. I hope that in your life you always take time to smell the roses and listen to the birds!!!

I tell people all the time that I come by my love of gardening naturally. I grew up running among the roses and skipping through the pansies of my grandparents and aunts gardens. My mother never had the time to raise a lot of flowers she was busy raising seven children.
My Great Grandmother on my mothers side (Jessie Jensen) lived until she was 102. She had the most amazing garden. I was 12 when she passed and I remember her yard very well. She grew and tended a "full sized" vegetable… Continue

Bonnie White said… - Hi Brooke...I haven't finished yard work yet for the winter..In spring it's so much fun watching everything come to life, and then in late fall it seems like such a chore to bring it all down. We have a HUGE amount of leaves to tend to each year and right now that's the priority. I have emptied all my hanging baskets...next it's the vegetable garden, and last but not least, the flower gardens and planting some more tulip bulbs. How about you..have you tackled it all yet????

I've worked on a number of community garden projects, we put on seminars, workshops and a plant sale every year, and I've headed up the fair outreach program since joining the MG program. It's a great organization.

Barbara McKenna said… - You don't think I would take a picture of the slug holes, do you? I have been fighting them again this year. Finally resulted to some sort of a slug, cutworm, and something else formula that is supposed to kill them. I think the damage has slowed or stopped. So now I am removing the most damaged leaves.
The smoke tree has been great. Planted about 4 or 5 years ago. Seems to grow in the heavy clay where we have it, not bothered by drought, deer don't touch it. So we have started 3 more on other parts of our property! Thanks for the comments.

Carolyn Wildwood said… - I'm working on my children's father's side of the family now and they also have a Cherokee from Oklahoma. Having a hard time figuring out which one! I'll keep working. I have gotten as far back as 1400 on some but my dad's dad's dad is the dead end right now. Came from Scots Irish stock and I'll have to go to Montrose and Keokuk Iowa (by Navuou) to do research or perhaps hire someone to help. My sister in South Jordan does research but I started it and love it so much. We may have to meet in Montrose/Navuou when we can to work some more. The train goes directly to that area from Salt Lake. You can see my family on Ancestry as WinterbergMaxwell. I'll add you if you like as a viewer. Google it too.
