"I love purple hyacinth bean vines...beautiful purplish flowers and heart shaped purplish leaves.  Even the seed pods are purple...great climbing and just being let run across the ground too.  Well worth the effort; mine were easy to…"

Camille Potter replied to Julie Rohmann's discussion Poison Ivy in the group Perennials
"I would suggest a systemic like Round-Up (glyphosate is active ingredient) or other brand names of same ingredient, i.e. Remuda. The leaves take it systemically to the roots and kill it there too. You may have to reapply one or more times depending…"

"This is a beautiful pond. I am curious what the green tree on the left hand side of the photo is? Has it been pruned to have this particular habit too, or is this its natural way to grow? What zone are you in?"

I reall didn't have much choice about the hostas but I'd read in "The Hosta HandbooK" by Mark Zilis that I could grow hostas under walnut trees. I bought the property almost 6 yrs. ago and planted @ 150 hosta from my previous home by the Wi. boarder in Northern Il.. I was so surprised by the growth that I've added more hostas and have planted day lilies sedums and numerous other plants with go results but gass strugles to live But then I do fertlize and mulch. I should add that I grow hibscus with my hostas to go with the hstas flowering in Aug..
