Digging In The Dirt

I've been digging in the dirt since I was small. My first flower garden was a packet of Cosmos my mother gave me when I was ten years old. We lived on a place on top of the National Monument west of Grand Junction, Colorado. I got out and scratched out a square in that old red sandy dirt, planted and watered those seeds. I think every one of them came up. I was amazed because they were almost as tall as I was. I've been digging in the dirt ever since.

No the pond and Japanese structures are in the Japanese Gardens in San Francisco at the Golden Gate Park. My garden is the little garden pictures. I tried to separate them but being the computer wiz that I am, I haven't figured out how to do that. I did take the pictures though. Thanks for taking the time to take a look at them. The sun is shining today so I'm headed out now.

"Hi Carol, We have loads of moss in our garden and grass (Oregon). I often wondered the same question. Usually when I'm removing it from my flower beds. I have yet to see any positive benefit to this kind of moss in flower beds. I've…"

"I completely agree.  One day I realized all I saw were the weeds that still need to be pulled or the bug damage around the edges.  If we always look between the plants we never see the beauty just another item for the to do list.  It…"

First Beans From Second Planting of Pole Beans

"Pole beans are so easy to grow! Just plop the seed in the ground and make sure they have something to climb on. This is a new variety I tried this year. I just love the apricot-colored blooms. (And the beans taste good, too!)"

"Correct, Keryn. No frost yet. We usually get our first frost in early November, although it wouldn't be too usual to get one towards the end of October."
