Have you ever heard of Garden Coaching???

Posted on April 26, 2010 at 8:20pm 3 Comments

I am looking to find someone who is a Garden Coach or knows about this new up and coming career. It sounds like a great job- encouraging others to garden and getting paid to do it! But I wonder what the costs are and how hard is it to find customers? It's only consulting right? Or do I need to buy the plants, and/or plant them for the customer? What do you know about this??? Join the Garden Coaching Group if you are interested in doing this in your area, or are a coach and can give us some… Continue

visiting Morton Arboretum

Posted on April 22, 2010 at 9:02pm 0 Comments

In my visit to my grand baby, we visited Morton Arboretum west of Chicago. Wow, 1400 acres of gorgeous gardens, trees, fields, ponds and forests. Lots of Red Buds in bloom along w/ Crab Apples and Spirea. Very inspiring. This is a great time to visit the local Arboreutums and get ideas.

OH! You have a LOVELY garden. I especially love your little frog on the bench. What fun! I am totally ashamed...I have lived here for 25 years...minutes from the Arboretum...and I have driven by it a gazillion times and have never been. I do love all of the redbuds they have there (from what I see as I drive by).
I did put in an herb garden last year, but hadn't post pics. Because of your prompting, I got off my butt and finally got around to posting on both facebook and here. Does your daughter live in Lombard or just her mother-in-law? How often do you make it this way? You should visit Lombard in May to see Lilacia Park. I think I will have to go there this week and get some pics to post of that. Spectacular! Nice connecting with you!

I was attacking the vina vine again last night. It really is pretty, but it's a mat that is about 4-3" high and crowding out it's neighbors.

I am a librarian, I am a compulsive organizer, I have a feeling this gardening season is going to be about putting everyone in their place or learning to let it go.

I love nice organized clumps, but I have an abundance of strays everywhere

Hi Katie,
What am I working on? Gosh, I never know where to start. I have some pretty established beds so they just need weeding, a little TLC and new mulch.

I have another bed that has gotten out of control with Monarda, Coneflowers, Chinese Lanterns, Ajuga, some stray Lily of the Valley, you get the idea. I'm not sure how to tackle that without ripping everything out and starting over.

I have been moving quite a bit around this spring, so there is another bed that has a lot of empty sections. My Hosta Garden needs a clearly defined path and mulch. I have an area that has an erosion problem. I have another path that I want to clear and mark as well. Then there is my front bed, the only bed in full sun but it has heavy clay.

How about you what are you focusing on in your gardens?
