"We are definitely lacking in honeybees and hummingbirds.I haven't spotted my monarchs but alot of swallowtails and we have loads of flowers! The wasps have been rather sluggish too! Virginia ( Zone 7) has had an exceptionally hot and dry June."

No bumblebees

Very sad this gardening season. Although all the flowers are doing extremely well, there are no bumblebees in my garden. I only saw two early this year...and now...not a one. I really miss the little guys buzzing around. Hope they come back next year.See More

I don't know if this is the work of Rose Slugs or not...but it only took two nights to clear it of leaves! I got a bunch of them in the spring with dish soap and hand squishing...but they only mined the leaves...this thing ate them. Appreciate your comments.

well, it's obviously still true...that old saying that goes something like..."you must be smarter than the tomato plants..." When I planted my tomato it enjoyed full hot sun virtually for 12 hours. Of course, that was in June when the sun was almost directly overhead and the giant maple trees had not leafed out. Now...well...not so much sun. I planted an Early Girl and it's already produced 3 tasty red bundles. The rest are all green. Please, oh please, give us some sunshine during the day and rain at night. Not too much to ask.
