"Take lots of pics! So do you revel in the confusion people have when you are searching for your next big "find?" I asked a neighbor who had old chicken feeders if I could buy them "cheaply" for pots for my annuals."
"I recently purchased 2 books on Concrete projects:
Concrete Ornaments for the Garden by Hunter, and CONCRETE GARDEN PROJECTS by Arvidsson & Nilsson. I also loooked up Mosaic projects on YouTube and found some interesting how to info there.
"My friend Mark, bought some vacant lots and an old warehouse in the Area of West Oakland known as "DogTown". It is right on the Emeryville Border near PIXAR. He went to school with us as a Printmaker at the San Francisco Art Institute in…"
"I love those. When our company orders food for a conference from Valentino's or other chains I save the black salad bowls that have a raised lid. Great for greenhouses!
What are you growing right now?"
"Yesterday I was at Kentucky Fried Chicken and my "sides" came in (THANKS GOD NO LONGER STYRAFOAM) tiny little re-useable plastic containers with plastic lids. Perfect for take home re-use, and little dabs of leftovers! Cool!
I just signed up for her catalog and emails. One of our nurseries carries a small amount of her plants. But, now that I know where she is, I plan on going Maybe over Spring Break or later in summer. My best friend lives in Castro Valley, just a hop away. We used to go to the NorCal pottery retailer in San Leandro and get excellent deals on flower pots. But they sold or became New England pottery and those great deals are no more. As for now, I am trying to get my yard ready for the Humboldt Botanical Garden Tour this June.
By the way, where do you live in Moss Beach? I grew up on TierraAlta off of California in the 70's. Then later we moved to the geodesic dome on Kelmore. My parents sold it almost ten years ago, so I haven't been back.
Thanks Cid.I loved the link. My dentist office manager gave me one of Annie's catalogs last week. I had so much fun going through it, then looking on the website. I am destined to visit Annie's next time I'm in the bay area.
I have many hummingbirds in my garden and they are attracted to Lavender, love Lavender, lantana, and red trumpet vine. I do not give them any sugar water, they love the plants. You know they are very territorial birds and they shoo-off any intruder. One time I was watering with the hose in hand when a hummer decided to take a bath, so there I was spraying until he was finally done. It was so cute.
"I had to check your page to see what part of the country you lived in to see why you had dalhias in bloom this time of year. I see you are from Portland, is this picture from last year? I live in Salem so I didn't think you…"
"Glenda I love the rain we are getting today, my poor vegetable garden was getting very dry and I will plant most of it this weekend or next. It has been a very dry year for Oregon and doesn't bode well for the coming summer."
