Claudia, Thanks for the comments on my photos.  I believe the flower is a Mountain Bluet/bachelor button.  I would like to plant some more but I'm having a hard time finding it.  Hopefully you will have better luck.

Hi Arleigh! Thank you so much for your kind words! I live in Kansas City area, on the Kansas side . . . zone 5 . . out in the country, but in a sequestered neighborhood with all the city amenities and none of the city lights, noise, and activity. It is perfect for us! We can see the stars POP at night, listen to the wolves, and cows, and to the Canada Geese chatter incessantly as they fly to their destination. But it is still so cold here. No preparation of the gardens yet. My fingers are ready to dig!

Good morning, Judi!
I went out a few mornings ago and captured all sorts of new blooms in my gardens!!! I get a little carried away!

I have not yet made it to the nursery. The weather, for one, has been a deterrent. Then yesterday I had an all day activity at a gorgeous golf country club (I do a lot of volunteer work for an organization here in town that benefits children). It was a beautiful day and the event was a huge success!

Today I must go to the doc for my finger (a weekly visit since my surgery), then i will have a pool afternoon! Yes, the algea is gone and my pool is back just in time for the hot, steamy weather! HEAVEN!!!

So, the nursery will have to wait another few days . . . then I shall go and see how much trouble I can get into, just like you! HA!

Thanks for the compliment on the penstemmon . . . it is so pretty!

Yes, the big black poodle is mine . . . Jacy. He is a year old and is simply the sweetest dog I have ever owned. Smart, soul of an angel. My precious big 70-pound boy! Thinks he's a lap dog sometimes. I encourage that of course!

I hate that you are potentially going to lose some of your prized plants or trees. I also will lose two yews . . .they have struggled since day one and now it it time to pull them out and replace them. Sad because I love yews, but half dead ones are so unattractive!

Have fun a the new nursery! Wish we lived closer to one another . . . but then, we'd get into twice as much trouble, wouldn't we? HAHAHA! THAT would be a blast!!!

Hey Claudia, cant wait to see the pics of yoour arbor, it sounds beautiful!! Btw I love the penstemon pic#4 Gorgeous!!! It has been cool and rainy here, My honeysuckle has a fungus and aphids, I had to spray this morning, I've been trying to not use pesticides, but my hummers really love the honeysuckle, I'm going to cut it back because its all yellow(fungus) Also fighting fire blight on 2 crabapples, its kinda a death sentence, one may be saved, but I dont see the other one being saved as we cut it back and sanitized pruners in between cuts evn sealed cuts and I'm still seeing it! It makes me soooo mad!

Well anyway let me know what vine you decide to grow on your arbor! The weather is crappy today, no pool. Glad to hear that yours is clear of the algea!! We must celebrate these little victories!

I saw in your pics a st. Poodle is that yours? He is very handsome!!

I'm waiting for a part for my hubbys truck, then I'm off to a new nursery, they are actually a grower so we'll see what kind of trouble I can get into there...SMILE Have a SUNSHINY DAY!!! JUDI

Ooooohhhhh! Thank you for the suggestion to plant TWO DIFFERENT VINES! Now why didn't I think of that!?! The arbor is large, wrought iron . . . it has a one-person bench on each side so that the two can sit facing one another and chat as they enjoy watching the swimmers! I like the idea of something that will grow quickly, particularly this summer. But then I also love the other combos you mention!

We've just about got the algea problem alleviated! YAY! We haven't missed much pool time because the weather around here is wet and cool . . . very bizarre conditions for Kansas this time of year, but my plants love it!

I'll take a trip to the nursery tomorrow I think. I can't wait! I'll take photos! Have a terrific Sunday!
