I thoroughly enjoyed the pictures of your landscape--the statuary (very tasteful) your kitty cat (LOVE CATS and every garden needs one) and the interesting views you have created. Simply beautiful

I laughed out loud so true, little gods on earth, more like control freaks. It'll work itself out. I might be confusing you with another GI friend, but did you say you used to live in KCMO? I needed that humorous punch this morining, thank you! Buck

Concrete Queen, Thank you for sending the photos!! I went in front of the Mission Hills Review Board, Part 1., they were impressed with your understated trellis design. What we installed appears to have been to tall, I guess I always push scale to the limit, well this time I went over the limit. Building Codes are considering this a fence structure and they can't be over 6' tall. We are at 8' 9" but the rules say one measures the height from the top of the first horizontal bar so actually the Gothic Arch at the top is okay but the whole structure needs to come down three inches. Three friggin' inches, can you belive it! AAArgh!! But with your trellis design as a guide I will simplify and elongate (kind of a tunnel effect) put a gothic arch at the top and lower the current structure. I will keep you posted. Buck

CQ, My clients' newly purchased home had these two ca. 1930's wrought iron gates just set in concrete with out any fencing around them, like a garden folly, strange. I removed them and had them tack welded, braced, wire brushed and painted as a backdrop for a rose trellis. I think I might be able to use your concept in front of the gates to support the 'Carefree Sunshine' Climber Roses. If you sent an email, I did not receive it. You might try buckbuchan@gmail.com. Thanks Buck
