The butterfly weed along the side of the road is asclepias tuberosa . It is native to the US. Here in Georgia, it also grows along the side of the road. Asclepias syriaca is also native and is the more comon mildweed that is food for larval monarch butterflies, along with a. turberosa. And, yes, you can buy both of these varieties, along with others. I found a supplier of native plants to Georgia by doing an online search. Good luck in your search!
