Hi Aagain,
Just thought of 2 other things - check out youtube, type in "thepondhunter" and he has awesome "how to videos" all about ponds, water features, etc., every educational. You might want to try floating water lettuce and hyacinths to help keep your water clear too. I purchased several 26 inch bicycle tubes from a local box store (W), filled them with air and put a couple plants in each one, by mid summer you wont see the inner tube and it helps "control" the floaters so they aren't getting in your pumps, etc., and you have clear water.

Hi Donna, Thanks so much for the Red Ribbon gift. I forgot to mention one other thing - in the fall I cover my pond with a net from right when the leaves start to fall until Thanksgiving, it helps tremendously to keep the wind from blowing leaves and misc debris into the pond even if you don't have a tree near the pond. They have "pond" nets or for your size pond you could use a net like the ones they use to put over fruit trees to keep the birds away and are fairly inexpensive. I actually got mine from QVC. I hope all is going smoothly with the pond so far.

Hi Donna,
Isn't this a great site. So much info and talent. Well I'm ready for some sunshine. Everyday they promise but it doesn't turn out that way. But I guess I can't complain, It's not snowing out.

Lissa J. Bitton said… I think you just have to be sure not to overplant, over or underwater, feed your plants and
pick the vegetables so more will grow. I am doing the square foot gardening method this year as I tend to overplant and then the plants are too crowded and none of them do very well! I think it is better to deepwater plants rather than just tease them with a little water every day - deep watering will produce a better root system! I love hummingbirds too!
Happy Gardening!
