Elizabeth, I found an old photo of when my shutters used to hang on the fence above the little bench and eventually rotted. The shutters have a nice edge on them so when you put them back to back there is plenty of room in between for the soil. I turned them upside down also so the soil would stay in and not wash out when watered or rained on. You could do this with any shutters but these are a some kind of heavy plastic so will not rot. Thisis the 4th year I've had them.

Elizabeth,
Just wanted to drop a quick note to say Hi... the weather here is really starting to turn spring like so I will be able to plant the cosmos you sent me very soon... although it's been absolutely gorgeous here during the day it still drops to freezing at night so I am a little leary about planting them quite yet.. another 10 days or so hopefullly will do it.
I will post some pic's for you to see once they start to grow... :-)
