Welcome To My Page

My mother is my inspiration for love of gardening. Growing up in Chicago we had a small garden but what she did in the little space she always made it beautiful. She is the one that helped me design my Japanese rock garden in the front of my home.
I went to visit her in Scottsdale, AZ and now was able to help her in her garden. Unfortunately there was a miscomunication between her and my brother. He had delivered about 6 tons of 2-3 inch pebbles to her yard. My mom kept her blinds down in her kitchen so she would not have to look at her garden disaster She had told me about it but I did not think it was as bad as she decribed and waited for me to come out to help her fix it. It was about 6 mo before I could get out there. I could not believe my eyes. The garden was completely gray except for the pool. Thank goodness my sister was there to help me. It took us 10days to complete the project. Talk about back breaking. Oh yeah we went to a spa after.

In my blogs I have 2 slide shows I hope you will enjoy. Thanks for visiting my space. Have a beautiful day.

Uploading and Delete.... Opppps!

Well I just learned something tonight. I thought I would delete my Desert Botanical Pictures since I already had put them in an album. When I deleted the pictures it also deleted my album!

Sun Shine At Last.

Thank Goodness for no rain in the forecast for awhile. It has been rather dreary and cool for the past 7days. Well it seems like forever.
My pavers are finished the landscapers trimmed my bushes and soon I will have the garden looking pristine. My next agenda is to restain the patio table, fix my little window in the front and should repaint the iron railing in back. blah blah blah does it ever end? So I really should not be blogging right now and doing my chores!

Hi Fran,
No I didn't start the Bonsais from seed. I'm kind of a lazy bonsai gardener. Most of them came from nursery stock. It's an easy way to learn the art. A couple of them I've had for several years. The seem to thrive in spite of my care not because of it. HA! I do Fuchsai trees from cuttings. They are quite fun. I will have to post some of those pictures soon.

Hey, I just saw that you are a chicago land neighbor. I started the midwest gardeners group on this site and was thinking of putting together a Chicago Botanic Garden trip for all the midwest gardeners index group. I will let you know if I can arrange that for this season.

Just saw your question on powdery mildew on phlox - yes, I expect it to start appearing in the next few weeks we have had a lot of rain. I try to water from beneath but the rain & dew make for good conditions, I have the same problems with my zinnias.

Actually, we went for a drive last night and wound up catching the the Lake Zurich ones. They were pretty impressive - between 30-40 minutes long right over the lake. On the 3rd we watched the Arlington Park ones from the neighborhood just south of the park. Those too were very nice. Where is Westbrook?

Hi Frannie...I have yet to post my pics. The pond should be in full bloom within the next couple of weeks, along with the yard. I will snap several and post them. :-)
