Sad report- Glad's House Sparrow Guests

As I was leaving for work this morning,  I went to my almond bush to say hello to my feathered kids.  As I approached the bush, I could see the nest, and there was something very very wrong.  It was completely empty.  No sparrow twins, no unhatched egg.  I can only surmise that a snake figured out that there was an easily reached meal in the bush.  Otherwise, if the birds had simply fallen out, I think the egg would still be there. How's Glad's Garden Growing Today? 5/29/11

The ligustrum (Japanese Privit) is blossoming finally!  This is such a marevelous time of the year!   As soon as you walk out onto the deck, you can smell them.  The gardenias are also flowering, so floral perfume is redolent in the warm late spring air. Butterflies tumble together, eating, frolicing, and maybe mating in the Memorial Weekend sunshine. The bees are busy busy busy, buzzing around visiting each flower in turn, loading their saddlebags with pollen and their tummies with nectar…
