Love this arrangement!  That coleus is the star of the production, which isn't easy cause all of them are wonderful. Thanks for posting this!

Daddieo, thank you for posting and clearing that up.  Your scenerio of parking the car is exactly correct and a perfect analogy to use!    It is a shame that there are so many people out there now who use a graphic without giving…

I'm not sure about pears.  We have a mini orchard including pears. Our pears have been doing well and they are soft when ripe.   This year, for the first time, we have had pest problems with our peach trees; it's called…

Well, I guess I was the original questioner: :-)  just checking in after a long absence and finally seeing your post.  Thank you for the clarification.  I once found a nativitiy artwork that was so unusual, I wanted to use it on a…

Only to own a large glass conservatory with a fireplace, hot tub and sliding doors to take the 'touchy' plants in and out by!

By the way, what's your nationality with a name like Hjordis - I'd guess Swedish? I'm half Norwegian by the way.

Thanks Hjordis. We are at Lake Oconee which is midway between Atlanta & Augusta. Right on I-20. We very rarely get snow, usually about once every 10 years where it sticks, and then it doesn't last long. We are in zone 8A. We mulch the Brugmansia with pinestraw and it's own leaves after cutting the stems down (mush after the 2nd freeze). We also grow lots of different Amaryllis which are hardy here too. As well as a number of Amorphophallus. I do tote a lot of tender perennial pots and our citrus trees in and out for freezes though.

Go to deserttropicals.com on the succulents list to get cold hardiness of any plant you have named. I have 2 areas for hardy (Oklahoma hardy) plants, some special show plants go in the house, another 500 or so go in the greenhouse. I try to keep it over 45deg, hoping the stapelias and a few others can tweek by. Supposed to get down to zero this week. Will use my 2 electric heaters, a few candles and a infrared propane heater(nights only) to try to keep the temp up. I have a remote thermomoter so I can monitor the temp. Just hope the 40mph winds they are predicting down blow out a panel again.
