- at least 2hrs a day in the summer. it snows in the winter!!
Gardening on Grand Island is very interesting. The season is very short. By November 6th we have usually had frost and snow. We had frost on May 20th this year. Perrenials have to be fairly hardy. We have many interesting idigenous wetland plants and beautiful white Oaks. We get excellent annuals from Canada to embroider the summer garden. Maples are abundant and my garden is based on the distribution of these trees.

And this year, we had an incredible amount of heavy winds!. Now the trick is to keep it all alive through the hot summer so we can plant again in the fall! Please add your gorgeous dog pen photos whenever you get around to it!
