Hello!
My name is Jana. I am a working mom of 2 beautiful boys, ages 9 and 6. They keep me very busy, but they are alot of fun! We enjoy gardening together, even though every time we go to the garden centers, they pick out the brightest most orange plants they can find! I always plant them in the gardens though, because someday soon, they are not going to want to garden with mom! They love to spread mulch with me (which usually means dad or I sweep alot) and they love to water, (which means I am cleaning up mud or trying to save my poor water-blown plants)! It's alot of fun though. They each have their own small garden which they add a little to every year. (I'll show pics soon)
I live in a small ranch which is decorated in primitive style inside. We live on a wonderful dead-end cul-de-sac with Fresh Pond at the end of our road (you can see water from some pics) It has been absolutely amazing to bring up my children here, as they learned to ride their 2-wheelers very young, and our street is very small (12 houses) so everyone knows eachother and looks out for one another. My sons last year had to help an elderly neighbor who had fallen in her driveway (we had just returned from baseball practice) They were wonderful!
I also have 2 big yellow silly dogs! One is a 4 year old yellow lab named Tasha, and the other is a 2 year old golden retreiver named Thomas. They love swimming in the pond and playing outside. I will add more pictures very soon! I hope to hear from anyone and share ideas, comments etc.

Jana, the impatiens along my sidewalk with the hostas growing on the edge come back for me every year....they are on both sides of the walkway and everyone just has a fit over them....this has not been a very good growing season for us either, cool temps in the beginning and then a lot of wind and rain....

LOL! I meant your garden looks so good you must spend way more! It looks perfect, really. You're setting the bar pretty high for the rest of us.

Hi Jana,
To begin, I'm the world's worst correspondent, But I read your post and I can relate. I always loved to garden and was a decent gardener until I had children; 3 boys. Then gardening became a means of maintaining my sanity and keeping the boys alive. When they pushed me to the edge, I'd step outside and garden. Everybody thrived.

Years later I went to work for a garden designer. I've been at it 7 years and almost every day I love it. I do maintenance, with a crew. What an experience!.

So, I'm not unfriendly, just a poor correspondent. If you ask me a question, I'll try to answer. Good luck with your garden and your boys.

your gardens are BEAUTIFUL! It must be nice having company in the garden, kids/dogs. I don't have either, son moved back to Arizona to raise his family about 15 years ago. I do however enjoy working in the yard when i can. This time of year is amlost too much for me though. I need to minimize my veggie gardens a little. Canning is a chore and I don't enjoy it all that much but do like my own recipes. What I do like is going out in my gardens and "shopping" each day for what ever I need for meals. You're colors inspired me to stick to my purples and whites for summer, however it is hard not to include pinks and yellows since they are the easiest to grow and take care of for some reason. Look forward to more pics.

Hello Jana, Thank you for the lovely comment, it is hard work, but I love it and I don't have to go to the gym, hahhhhaaa
As I as coming on to send you a comment, I got to see your gardens, I had forgotten that nice little bonus, of us seeing each other's. Well, your home and gardens are just lovely. I especially love the little garden tokens, ornaments that you have scattered throughout the landscape, cute, very cute, I intend to try and copy that, hehehhe, hope you don't mind.
The color of those blue petunias are just brilliant, what a show, but then all of your plants, flowers are gorgeous, keep up the good work, Oh, and as an owner of 4 house cats, and 2 dogs, I know where your coming from, again, a laugh, hahahahah, take care, Maureen.........

Hi Jana, Thanks for your comment on my pond picture. We've had our pond for about 12 years and the koi in the picture is the last of a half dozen that we started out with. There was an incident 2 years ago where a blue heron ate most of our fish. We replaced the koi with goldfish because they are considerably cheaper. lol It was great to read that your sons enjoy gardening too. When you start young it becomes a life long passion.

Your husband must think very highly of you. To think you were giving the better pot away for mothers day, how sweet and generous of you.
Once it stops raining I will take a picture of my garden as it looks now. I have a lot of area to cover so this year I've added more hosta and my new favorite, cat mint and wave petunias ( I always use them ). I want it to look lush, without me having to take out a loan. I am having a wedding breakfast here at the end of July so it has to look good. Then I am starting on my children's garden for my grandchildren and to keep my dog at home.
I have an old wooden boat that I'm going to sink into the ground and fill with sand for a sand box. I'd like to edge it with blue flowers to look like the ocean even though I know they will trample them. It will take a year to do since trees have to come down and I have to wait for my husband to do it.
