"Love the rose, I've always been afraid to plant them. I like them but some people tell me that they have a lot of issues. Is that true. That is a very pretty one."

Over wintering my rosemary and lavender in zone 5

Posted on September 7, 2009 at 4:54pm 0 Comments

I have planted rosemary in containers this summer in zone 5. They did great, but now I want to try over wintering them. My basement doesn't get a lot of light, but I might be able to locate it near the garage windows to give more light. How much water does it need?

My laveneder (angistafolia) is in it's first year. Leaves look great, growing well in it's well dranined pot. No flowers this year. I'm assuming those will come next year? How do I over winter it?

I've attached a photo of the Hycinth Bean Vine. It also has names line Cuban Vine, Lab Lab and others. The good news is that it's an annual so doesn't really get out of bounds too much. It has light purple flowers and dark purple stems and beans.
Regarding the color of your house, I lived in San Francisco for 5 months. Those folks aren't afraid of color and it's beautiful.

Well, welcome to the site. I'm kind of new here too (about 4 mnths now). That's an interestng photo you have for your profile picture. Those dogs aren't fighting are they?

Overwintering- (1) what are you trying to overwinter? (2) it depending on your location. I'm in Georgia, so the only things that I was able to "overwinter" and had survive, were my red Geranium (my all time favs).

Rosemary in containers.....you might want to check the "Groups" section for your area and see what they may have to say. Sorry, I couldn't be helpful.

Thanks for viewing my page.
